Introduction
COPAAP,
the Community Partnership Against
AIDS Program, was founded in 2003 by a group of physicians, community
development experts and anthropologists in order to bridge culture,
society,
and medicine in the fight against the HIV & AIDS pandemic at a
local rural
level in Africa.
We are an apolitical,
non-religious, non-profit NGO open to all people or organizations that
share
in our objectives and are committed to the fight against HIV
& AIDS in Africa.
Objective
COPAAP’s
mission is to empower rural
African communities in their fight against the HIV & AIDS
pandemic
by
providing
professional, technical and material assistance in the elaboration and
implementation of sustainable comprehensive HIV & AIDS control
projects. These projects include sensitization, free mass screenings,
capacity building,
care and
treatment to people living with or affected by HIV & AIDS.
Where We Work
Since
2003, COPAAP has worked in the Northwest
Province
of the Republic
of Cameroon
and
specifically in the rural villages surrounding Bamenda.
In the future
COPAAP hopes to extend to other areas of Cameroon
and other sub-Saharan
African countries.
